Ella – the Great King Ravana’s kingdom

Ella is greatly believed as the place where the king Ravana, whom we meet in our historical anecdotes, lived. It is a place with great biodiversity, cold climate, and beautiful streams running through the tea estate soothing for anybody’s mind.

Ella is situated in Uva Province and the Badulla district and is located 209 Km away from Colombo, the capital city of Sri Lanka on Balangoda – Haputale road. Through this road, and it is very nice. It is also a reachable by train which offers breathtaking scenery all along the way though it takes a little longer time.

Of late, Ella has become the hot spot for the tourists for both local and foreign for the simple reason, that it offers a great, be it accommodation, sightseeing food and drinks or just for leisure. Among places of visit are the beautiful waterfall named Ravana Falls, Punchi Sri Paadaya or Little  Adam’s Peak, Ella Mountain and Dhowa Temple. It is also a very popular as honeymoon location for those who are newly married.

Usually, the Ella area is very beautiful for extra time. But at the same time, when the waterways begin to flow, it’s risking a bit of a ride. But foreign tourists are most inclined to travel this time.
