You will have to drive 145km from Colombo city to see this hansome waterfall. It is via Colombo-Avissawella-Ginigathhena-Hatton road. The distance from Hatton to Falls is 18 km. After passing Devon Ella, proceed along Hatton-Nuwara-Eliya Road, the St. Clair Waterfall observatory is located at the left side of the road.

This view is the best place to see the fascination of the waterfall from the vast tea plantations. You can climb the waterfall at a distance of approximately two or three kilometers from the viewpoint. But to get to the foot of the waterfall, take a further distance and travel from the Thalawakele town on the junction of Thalawakele-Watagoda. Upper Kotmale reservoir can  access

along the highway and the Minor St. Clair waterfalls can  see along the route. After traveling about one and a half kilometers from there, then the St. Claire can reach

at the foot of the main waterfall, after the turn of the tea estats.

It was say that the Sanctuary name Sanctuary of St. Nicholas in the NuwaraEliya region name  after an administrative officer or Governor who ruled the mountainous region of Sri Lanka. This waterfall, know as the Little Niagara Falls, can  identify as the largest waterfall in Sri Lanka. The height of the waterfall is 240 feet, 155 feet in width. However, due to the construction of the Upper Kothmale Project in 2008, the water level of the waterfall has be greatly reduced. And also  its beauty has declined.
