Lakshapana Falls

After the Lakshapana Hydro Power Plant had join the Ceylon Electricity Board.  As several decades ago, we heard that the power supply in Sri Lanka was strong. Lakshapana waterfall near the Lakshapana power plant is also heard as a beautiful waterfall. Lakshapana is one of the highest waterfalls in Sri Lanka.

Of course, the waterfalls in the central hills are beautiful and unusual. In the meantime, the famous waterfalls are the result of a terrible appearance on the mountainous terrain. These waterfalls are located near the Maskeliya area in the Nuwara Eliya district of the central province.

If you come from Colombo to Avissawella-Kithulgala, you can reach the exit point at the Lakshapana access road.  And then reach the Lakshapana Waterfall at a distance of 26 kilometers. And the distance from the Maskeliya town is 17 kilometers. If you are on the train by going from Watawala Station.  After,  Norton Bridge, you can travel 19 kilometers to reach Laxapana Falls.

Kehelgamu Oya and Maskeli Oya provide water to the more beautiful Lakshapana Falls. Both are riverbeds related to the Kelani River. As the water level is generally short-live during any year of the year.  Lakshapana Falls falls throughout the year throughout the year. Due to the Sri Paada site, there is a waterfall on the park, which was  endowed with the natural environment.

According to the legends, when the Buddha visited Sri Paadaya as the invitation of the God Samana. And also he was washing his bowl at the Lakshapana Waterfall. Therefore, this place has gained another significance. The waterfall of Nuwara Eliya or Maskeliya will make your Lakshapana a beautiful memorial.
