Attractive Hikkaduwa
Hikkaduwa is a famous tourist attraction the world over. This beautiful region situated in the southern province of Sri Lanka has much to offer tourists. Hikkaduwa is only 98 kms from Colombo and can be reached on the new constructed Highway. The reason that Hikkaduwa is famous for the world over is for its explicit beaches and tourist hotels with beach fronts. The hotels on the coastal line of Hikkaduwa range from 5-star hotels to small hotels and fit the budgets of tourists. The beautiful beaches of Hikkaduwa are a haven for tourists where the hotels arrange many events such as BBQ, sporting events and many more tourist attractions.
Hikkaduwa beaches are also famous for its surfing and diving. This is due to the fact that these areas as very safe as there are no rocks undersea. Another great attraction for tourists is the coral reefs which could be viewed when you travel in a glass bottomed boat. From historical artifacts it could be said that the Seenigama Devala is a major attraction both to locals and foreigners. This Devala is said to have powers that bring peace to those who visit it. Another attraction is the Tsunami Museum. This particular area was badly affected by the Tsunami which hit the shores of Sri Lanka in 2004. The museum is a building of remembrance to those who lost their lives in this devastating Tsunami.
